Production Assistant/Technical Services Chemist Assistant

Job Description:

The QC/Technical Services Chemist Assistant is an Technical Services position that reports to the Plant Manager and Vice President of R&D/Technical Services.  The scope of responsibility of this position includes serving as the plant Technical Services Chemist (performing routine analytical chemistry testing of manufacturing components and finished) as well as providing production Quality Control.  The position is anticipated to be a first shift position, but shift hours are subject to change due to seasonal demand.  The position is located in Stockton, CA

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine analytical testing (SOP-based) on batches of finished products and manufacturing components. Prepare written summaries (Certificates of Analysis, Certificates of Compliance) of batch testing results.

  • Provide technical support during the development of new testing methods and procedures. Apply valid statistical techniques to drive variability reduction throughout the manufacturing processes.

  • Assist Technical Services and site leadership in investigating quality and production issues and customer complaints. Identify and develop corrective and preventative actions concerning product and process quality issues. Consult with Technical Services regarding implementation of corrective and preventative actions resulting from quality investigations.

  • Perform routine calibration of laboratory equipment.

  • Perform routine preparation and certification of standardized reagents.

  • Perform pre-manufacture inspections and approvals of equipment, packaging, and chemical components.

  • Maintain tracking tools, trends and control charts for quality operations regarding in-process and product release testing to identify planned and unplanned deviation to production batches. Communicate performance summaries on a regular basis.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry, specialization in Analytical chemistry preferred, and an experience-based knowledge of chemical principles, chemical manufacturing processes, and chemical plant operations. 

  • Must be able to work independently.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.

  • Must have excellent communication, computer, analytical, math, and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to accurately document and maintain records.


Monday – Friday – Day Shift – 7AM – 3:30PM or 8AM – 4:30 PM.  Additional hours may be required to meet business demands.
